JCDecaux Cityscape embarks on Real-Time Bidding for prDOOH – UV index triggering & audience targeting with sunscreen brand Banana Boat

Hong Kong, 08 May 2024 – JCDecaux Cityscape has brought Real Time Bidding (RTB) to programmatic digital out-of-home (DOOH) trading in Hong Kong and Macau with Wavemaker by GroupM and VIOOH, the world-leading supply side platform in the global programmatic OOH sector. The partnership executes through Sightline, the multichannel prDOOH solution by GroupM, which delivers an intelligent decisioning engine to advertisers, thereby accelerating programmatic campaign trading to real-time. This enables better audience targeting based on demographic, location and time-of-day, with an enhanced capability to display different data-triggered messages.

 

Banana Boat as the first client: UV index triggering & audience targeting on sunscreen products

Banana Boat is the first client to adopt RTB on Cityscape’s premium Digital Frame Network with its launch of the first UV index triggered programmatic advertising campaign ‘Protects the Fun’ via VIOOH’s next-generation real-time platform, VIOOH Trading Manager.

 

With specific day parting and audience segmentation on Banana Boat’s primary and secondary audiences: mass and sports enthusiasts, the campaign aims at awareness enhancement on Banana Boat’s sunscreen products through daily usage.

 

Real-time bidding optimizes campaign delivery

By leveraging on UV index data from Hong Kong Observatory as a trigger, when it reaches a 2+ rating, the ad is activated and displayed on filtered digital frames. This provides a reminder for the audience to apply Banana Boat’s sunscreen product as a shield against the unseen UV light on both sunny and cloudy days, significantly raises ad relevancy to exposed audience.
